Some suspected Fulani gunmen numbering about 20 stormed Adu village in Atakad Chiefdom, Kaura local government area of Kaduna State, on Monday, killing about seven persons and injuring some others. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when residents of Adu were getting ready for the day’s work.
The attackers reportedly entered the community through the Zankang forest. They shot at people they met and killed their victims in the brutal attack on the villagers. Some residents of the village fled their homes for safety with some escaping with injuries.
However, six Fulani men were later apprehended by some youths in Zankan village, about 10km from Atakad. They were arrested while trying to change their blood stained clothes with new ones awaiting to board a waiting vehicle.
The arrested suspects were reportedly taken to Manchok Police Station before some military men took them to Kafanchan.
The police in the state, through its spokesman, Aminu Lawan, confirmed the attack and the arrest of the six suspects.
