A former acting governor of Kogi State, Clarence Olatunde Olafemi, on Thursday, survived an attempt on his life by some armed men. The incident occurred along the Kabba/Okene road in Lokoja, Kogi State capital. The hoodlums severally shot at his car as his driver attempted to zoom off.
Olafemi, an acting governor of the state from February 6, 2008 to March 29, 2008, was reportedly returning from his Mopa hometown to Lokoja when the armed robbers flagged him down. He had visited Mopa to host some of his friends and political allies.
It was gathered that the gunmen, numbering about 12, stopped Olafemi at about 3:30pm, but damaged his vehicle with bullets as he tried to escape. However, the politician managed to run away unhurt. He is said to be presently doing fine after the ugly occurrence.
