Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State has denied reports that a woman slumped and died in his office on Monday after being delayed for a long time.
Refuting the story on Tuesday, while inaugurating the Niger State Geographic Information System, NIGIS, board, the governor explained that the woman in question died of ill health at the hospital and not in his office.
Aliyu added that the woman did not die as a result of exposure to unfavourable weather condition, as being speculated in the media.
On Monday, there were reports that one Hajiya Biliku Mahmud, aged 46, slumped and died at the Government House in Minna, the state capital, after waiting for hours unattended to. She was said to have gone to the Government House to claim an undisclosed sum of money.
Mahmud was reportedly a retired staff from the office of the Deputy Governor, Ahmed Musa Ibeto. She was rushed to the Minna General Hospital where doctors confirmed her dead.
