Exactly a week after a rally of the Save Rivers Movement was disrupted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, the group has again been attacked by some hoodlums in the state.
On Sunday, the planned rally at Khana local government area of Rivers State was marred by violence when hundreds of suspected thugs unleashed terror on members of the group. No sooner had they conveyed for the meeting than the attackers inflicted injuries on anyone at sight.
Journalists attached to Channels TV were also not spared in the fracas as their Outside Broadcasting van was attacked. Some other vehicles at the venue were also destroyed by the hoodlums.
Last Sunday, the SRM was attacked by the police. A serving Senator, Magnus Abe, was allegedly shot by the police and was rushed to a hospital in the state before he was flown abroad for treatment.
