Board Suspends Rural Electrification Agency Boss

Following his inability to work towards the implementation of the Federal Government programme in the power sector, the Managing Director of the National Rural Electrification Agency, NREA, Kenneth Achugbu, has been suspended from office.

Achugbu was axed on Tuesday after the board of the agency ended a three-hour-meeting. His suspension was announced by the board Chairman of NREA, Senator Jonathan Zwingina.

Zwingina noted that Achugbu was asked to step down for lacking the executive capacity to implement the Federal Government programme in the power sector.

He has been replaced by Abubakar Wasaram, who is the most senior director in the agency.

“The board shall set up task forces to undertake working tour of all projects in the Federation in order to determine their level of execution,” Zwingina stated.
