The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Andrew Yakubu, has disclosed that the controversial missing $10.8 billion was spent by Nigerians. He said this on Monday while defending what went wrong with the alleged ‘missing’ amount.
Yakubu stated that if truly the money was missing, then it must have ended up in the pockets of Nigerians.
“The $10.8 billion is not a missing money; if it is missing, (then) it’s missing to the pockets of the beneficiaries who are you and me,” the NNPC Director declared.
Also speaking on Monday at a public hearing in Abuja was the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who stated that it was premature for anyone to state that the said amount was missing.
