A former Chairman of Ikeduru local government area of Imo State, Brendan Oguine, has been assassinated by some gunmen. The late council boss was gruesomely murdered in his house on Saturday, January 18, 2014.
A source in Owerri told Aproko247 that the gunmen requested for some documents from the deceased, who declined, and was subsequently killed.
We also learnt that no sooner had the late Oguine arrived from a local meeting in Ugirike, Ikeduru, than his assailants burst into his apartment and killed him.
This magazine further learnt that the assassins stabbed late Oguine in the stomach and neck. It was gathered may have died as a result of a traditional stool tussle in the area.
The police in the state have launched an investigation into the murder, we learnt, while his remains has been deposited in a morgue in the state.
Meanwhile, some women in Owerri took to the streets on Tuesday to protest the murder of Oguine. They called on the state government and the police to smoke out the perpetrators of the act.
