The State Security Service, SSS, has summoned former FCT Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to its headquarters in Abuja to clarify a statement attributed to him on Thursday in two national newspapers; ThisDay and Punch.
The security outfit asked El-Rufai, who is the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to appear before it on Friday, January 24, 2014. The SSS said El-Rufai’s attention is needed for him to clarify what he meant by the comment.
On Thursday, El-Rufai noted that, “the next election is likely to be violent and many people are likely going to die. And the only alternative left to get power is to take it by force; this is the reality on the ground.”
The politician slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for not being able to conduct free and fair elections in Anambra and Delta States, stating that if they couldn’t handle those states, it means they will not be able to conduct credible general elections in 2015.
The SSS warned politicians against making provocative and disruptive comments.
