The home based Super Eagles presently playing at the CHAN competition in South Africa will be $100,000 (N165 million) richer if the defeat Morocco on Saturday to qualify for the semi-final of the tourney.
The National Sports Commission, NSC, Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement.
Abdullahi expressed optimism that the cash reward would motivate the boys to ride on their North African country opponent when they play in Cape Town on Saturday.
“This is a special fund meant to encourage the players to give their all. It is besides their normal allowance and bonus,” the Minister explained.
“I am very impressed with their performance so far. As we all can see, the team has been improving with each match, and it is our desire that they continue to do very well and reach the final.
“This incentive will hopefully further boost the morale of both the players and coaches and help the team to triumph over Morocco,” said Abdullahi.
Nigeria is making first appearance at the tournament just like Morocco.
