NEMA Describes NSCDC Disaster Management Institute As Africa’s Best

Director General of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi, has described the disaster management institute operated by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Katsina as the best in Africa.

The Corps runs the Institute of Peace and Disaster Management, IPDM.

The NEMA boss asserted that with the level of academic resources and manpower at the college and with his exposure to other disaster schools in Africa, NSCDC institute still remains a disaster institute to beat in the continent.

He commended the effort of the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr Ade Abolurin, in making the NSCDC an enviable security agency in the country and the continent at large. He hailed Abolurin for achieving such feats; and expressed surprised at how the Corps attained such level of development in terms of infrastructure and manpower in disaster management despite its financial challenges.

The DG also expressed NEMA’s readiness in partnering with the NSCDC to promote the disaster college to the rest of the world.

In his response, the Commandant General thanked Sani Sidi for the commendation and lauded the existing cooperation between NEMA and NSCDC in disaster management in the country. He assured the NEMA boss that the Civil Defense will continue to support the agency in disaster management.
