Ekiti 2014: Gov Fayemi Declares For 2nd Term

Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has officially declared his intention to seek a re-election into the Government House in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. The governor formally expressed his ambition on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti via a press statement signed by him.

This came barely 48 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, released the timetable for the gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, which holds on June 21, 2014.

The governor also revealed members of his re-election campaign organisation.

In the press statement, Fayemi disclosed that “following the groundswell of support by leaders and members of our party as well as the generality of Ekiti people from the nooks and crannies of Ekiti State and in the Diaspora, it is with a profound sense of gratitude and responsibility that I today accept the calls by our people to seek re-election for a second term in office.

“You have made the calls, and today I have opted to act in deference to those sacred calls by throwing my hat into the ring for a free and fair contestation for the exalted office for a second term.”

He added that, “my readiness to heed your calls today is therefore a demonstration of our collective commitment to continue the good work we have begun.”

The governor named Hon Bimbo Daramola as the Director General of his re-election campaign organisation, Hon Biodun Omoleye as the Deputy DG, while Sanmi Omiata will be the organisation’s Communications Director. Dimeji Daniels was revealed as the campaign’s spokesperson.
