The Vice chairman of Etsako Central local government area of Edo State, Charles Eshiesimua, on Friday, slumped and died while waiting to see a doctor at the Irrua Specialist Hospital, also in Edo State.
Late Eshiesimua had gone to the hospital for a medical check-up when the sad incident occurred.
His demise took those at the hospital by surprise and some nurses and doctors battled to bring him back to life when he slumped.
The unfortunate event took place around 4pm on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the council, Emmanuel Momoh, has described the death of his Vice as shocking.
“The death of Charles is surprising to me because we both spoke before I left for Benin. I can’t believe that Charles is dead,” Momoh said on Saturday when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased.
