Lagos Guber: Abiola's Widow Declares For Accord Party

Mrs Dupe Onitiri-Abiola, one of the wives of late MKO Abiola, has officially declared her intention to contest in the governorship election in Lagos State under Accord Party come 2015.

Onitiri-Abiola, few days ago, expressed her desire to occupy the Lagos Government seat of power in 2015. She had then said she was consulting with some stakeholders to determine under which party to achieve her ambition.

At an event held during the week, the widow of the acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential election in Nigeria said her experience in the political struggle during the dark days of the country will enable her deliver to the people.

She frowned at the politics of money and god-fatherism being practiced in Nigeria today by some politicians.

Onitiri-Abiola stated that, “the majority political parties today only serve their god fathers’ interests. If there were provision for individual candidacy, I would have considered that, but I find Accord Party to be devoid of the nonsense to remit resources to godfathers.”
