A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Magaji Doho, has stated that the defection of former Vice President, Atiku Abaubakar, to APC from the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, will help the party become successful at the 2015 general elections.
Doho, the Interim Chairman of APC in Gombe State, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Monday that, “because he (Atiku) is a grassroots politician, a great mobiliser and we feel that his coming on board will definitely move the party forward that will also take us to victory.”
The opposition party’s top shot added that, “the defection of the former Vice President, Turakin Adamawa, Atiku Abaubakar, was long overdue. We expected that he’s going to come.”
“He was one of the people who set up the PDP but because of the non-compliance with the rules of the game of politics, it forced most people to change from one party to another,” Doho further disclosed.
He observed that APC expects Atiku’s “wealth of experience in politics, his contributions and the carrying of everyone on board” to positively work in the party’s favour now that he is now with them, adding that “it will take us to greater heights during the general election” in 2015.
