Uche Iwuji, Hubby In Court For Divorce

The less than 15-month-old marriage of Nollywood actress, Uche Iwuji, to her oil and gas big boy husband, Juwon Lawal, has finally packed up like a set of badly arranged pack of cards.

The estranged lovebirds are presently in court to formalise their separation.

A statement by Juwon’s publicist, Status and Living Media, confirms that Juwon and Uche are no more living together as husband and wife.

“This should serve as the official statement confirming the end to the marriage formalized on Friday, November 16th 2012 between the CEO of ABD Fuels Plc, Juwon Rasak Lawal and actress Uche Iwuji,” the Publicist said.

The statement also informed that, “already, the court processes are on to give a legal seal to the separation.”

Explaining the reason behind the breakup, the statement noted that, “Lawal was in Europe on a business tour when the story first broke through the media. This was the reason why he could not react appropriately to it, plus the fact that he felt the event could be redeemed.

“Although, he would not want to talk about the reasons for the separation, Lawal is not married anymore to Miss Iwuji. And he will like to treat his estranged wife’s case as ‘once a friend, always a friend’.”

Recall that last year, news went viral that Uche was seeing a bank chief, which caused the crack in her marriage. The erstwhile couple denied back then that their union was troubled.

Uche and Juwon produced a son while their marriage lasted.

The rate of divorce among Nigerian celebrities have reccently been on the rise.
