Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has stated that he is not planning to join the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, as some may have been thinking. He categorically noted that he’s still a card-carrying member of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.
Obasanjo, while addressing newsmen in London on Wednesday, maintained that he was never out of the ruling party, stating further that he only withdrew from the party’s activities as stated in his January 7, 2014 letter to the former PDP Chairman, Bamanga Tukur.
“I am a card-carry member of the PDP, I have never left the PDP,” the two-time Nigerian leader said.
While earlier speaking at a press conference in London, as part of activities marking the first anniversary of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, the former Military Head of State declined to speak on the new leadership of the PDP under Adamu Mu’azu and whether he would now be fully involved in the party’s activities since Tukur has left office.
