Wild Jubilation At Lagos, Abuja Airports Over Oduah's Sack

Some workers at the Lagos and Abuja airports could not hide their excitements on Wednesday over the sack of embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, after several months of pressures mounted on him by Nigerians to send Oduah packing.

Aviation sources informed Aproko247 that the ‘happy workers’ expressed satisfaction over Stella’s eventual removal.

“This is one if the best Valentine gifts we have ever received,” one of our sources said. “We have finally been freed from bondage because we were in bondage during her tenure,” another aviation source told this magazine.

One of our sources at the Abuja airport said, “workers danced and celebrated Oduah’s removal yesterday (Wednesday). You needed to see the smiles on peoples’ faces. It is really a big sigh of relief here now that Oduah is gone. We don’t pray to have another Oduah”

Speaking in the same vein, a source at the Lagos airport told Aproko247 that Oduah’s reign as Minister allegedly brought about internal rot in the aviation sector in Nigeria.

Our source added that Oduah allegedly committed atrocities in terms of promotions and appointments in the aviation sector.

“How can you bring a retired military personnel into the aviation industry to head departments, what do they know about the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)?” our source questioned. “We danced ‘Skelewu and Samba dance steps yesterday (Wednesday) here. Intact, the rain that fell yesterday (Wednesday) washed Stella (Oduah) away from the aviation industry,” our source added.

Meanwhile, when Aproko247 visited the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday, those who spoke with our reporter on condition of anonymity expressed mixed feelings over the removal of Oduah as Minister.

Some of them claimed that those rejoicing over her sack are the ones responsible for the rot in the nation’s aviation sector.

“Let me tell you the truth, Oduah is one of the best Aviation Ministers Nigeria ever had. Look at the beautification of the various airports across the country. Those who wanted her out were aggrieved that she blocked their corrupt moves and deals at the airport,” one of the aviation workers, who spoke with Aproko247 on Thursday at the Lagos Airport, said.

“A lot of dirty deals are carried out here and when Stella (Oduah) came, she blocked them and that is why many of these people are annoyed with her. They don’t want Nigeria to be good,” said another respondent.
