The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has disclosed that it is yet to ask the recently dropped Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, to appear at its office to explain her role in the controversial procurement of two bulletproof BMW cars by a parastatal in the aviation ministry.
Addressing newsmen on Friday at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, noted that Oduah must not be physically invited by the anti-graft body before investigating her.
He pointed out that what is important is for Nigerians to know that Oduah is being investigated by the Commission. Uwujaren promised that Nigerians will surely know the outcome of the EFCC’s investigation into the allegations against the former minister.
“I can tell you that the commission is on top of the case and is investigating it. In due course, Nigerians will be told the outcome. No responsible law enforcement organisation gives prior notice of invitation to a suspect in a matter,” the EFCC head of Media and Publicity said at the press conference.
He further disclosed that out of the 533 cases charged to court in 2013 by the EFCC, the Commision only got 117 convictions, losing 416.
