The Federal Government has directed the Managing Director of the Nigerian Communications Satellite, NIGCOMSAT, Ltd Timasaniyu Ahmed-Rufai, to embark on an indefinite leave. The order was handed out to him on Monday through the Minister of Communications and Technology, Omobola Johnson.
The directive, contained in a statement released in Lagos, noted that Ahmed-Rufai was asked to go on the compulsory leave to allow an investigation into the financial status of the company.
Meanwhile, Ms Abimbola Alale, the Executive Director (Marketing), NIGCOMSAT, has been named Acting Managing Director, pending the conclusion of the investigation.
Ahmed-Rufai became the MD of the company in 2006. Before then, he was the Project Manager of NigComSat-1 prior to the establishment of NIGCOMSAT Ltd in April 2006.
