An Ikeja High Court sitting in Lagos, on Friday, sentenced Akolade Arowolo to death for his involvement in the death of his wife, Titilayo.
Arowolo was accused of killing his wife in June 2011 at their Isolo residence in Lagos during an argument.
The trial judge, Justice Lateefa Okunnu, ruled that the convict should be executed by hanging. She disclosed that her judgement was based on an autopsy report conducted on the deceased by a pathologist, Prof John Obafunwa, which revealed that the late Titilayo was stabbed to death with over 70 stab wounds.
However, Arowolo countered the report and told the court that his late wife killed herself, claiming the deceased fell on a knife during an altercation.
After the court judgement on Friday, while being accompanied to the prison van, Arowolo shouted and repeatedly said ‘I am not condemned. I don’t have hands in her (Titilayo) death. Jesus.’
