Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, on Sunday afternoon, held a closed-door meeting with former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, at the latter’s home in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The talks lasted about two hours.
Addressing newsmen after the deliberations, Tambuwal noted that he visited the two-time Nigerian leader to seek him advice on some matters and also to gain from his wealth of experience. The Speaker further said that matters of national interest were discussed at the secret meeting.
“There are lots of issues in Nigeria today. Of course, there is issue on Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, that we are considering in the house, we are doing constitution amendment in the House and a host of other very key and important legislation before the parliament,” Tambuwal told journalists.
Speaking further, the nation’s number four citizen added that, “so, we needed to consult with our leaders on such very important and vital legislation before we conclude what we are doing on them and the electoral act is likely to be amended. So, from his wealth of experience, we needed some inputs from Baba (OBJ).”
Tambuwal, however, stressed that, “I am just visiting our national leader of PDP. Myself and Baba are in PDP.”
The Speaker was accompanied to the secret talks by Kawu Sumaila, Ajibola Muraina and Aminu Shagari.
