At least seven persons have died in a Boko Haram attack in Cameroon on Sunday, AFP reports.
A security source informed the news agency that the insurgents raided northern Cameroon on Sunday.
“Boko Haram killed a (Cameroonian) soldier. Our soldiers killed six of their guys” and “captured” two others near the Nigerian border, the source told AFP on Monday, requesting anonymity.
It was said that the insurgents entered the West African country through the Nigerian border, but the Cameroonian soldiers engaged them in a gun duel.
The terrorists were further said to have discreetly crept into the neighbouring country, but a villager, who saw them, about 30, raised an alarm.
Nigeria has been battling hard to curtail the Boko Haram group without a meaningful result. The group has continued to attack villages in north eastern Nigeria, killing over 150 in few days.
