The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has warned the candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in the oncoming June 21, 2014 governorship election in the state, Ayo Fayose, not to cause violence in Ekiti State ahead of the poll.
Fayemi, in a press statement on Monday, through his campaign organisation’s spokesman, Dimeji Daniels, accused President Goodluck Jonathan of making the former Governor of the state, Fayose, emerge as the PDP flag-bearer with the aim of using him to cause mayhem during the election.
“Fayose was made to win the PDP primaries because of his anti-democratic credentials of violence, a clear pointer that the Presidency and the PDP have perfected strategies to rig the June 21 governorship election,” a part of the statement alleged.
Fayemi further alleged that Jonathan had a hand in the process of Fayose’s emergence as PDP’s candidate for the June 21 election.
“What this means is that the Jonathan presidency and the PDP have no sense of history regarding Ekiti people. Ekiti people have been known to resist shady characters. This same man was sent packing with his tails between his legs by Ekiti people when it became apparent that he had no respect for human dignity,” he said.
Fayemi, however, stressed that Fayose would be made to face the full wrath of the people if he instigates violence in Ekiti State.
