Court Frees Rivers Lawmaker, Chidi Lloyd Of Attempted Murder

Justice Ledan Nyordee of a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has discharged and acquitted the Majority Leader of the Rivers House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd, of an attempted murder.

The court held on Thursday that there was nothing it could do in the matter since the police was not willing to prosecute the case.

The lawmaker was accused of hitting a colleague of his in the State House of Assembly, Michael Chinda, with a maze in the head during a fracas that broke out at the chamber in 2013. Lloyd was then arrested and charged with attempted murder.

The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Worgu Boms, had written the court to inform it that the police did not send the case file to his office.
