The Nigeria Police has stopped the demolition of a forest found in Ibadan, Oyo State, where human parts were uncovered last weekend. The state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, had ordered that structures in the forest located in Soka, be pulled down.
But on Wednesday, while the exercise was going on, operations suddenly stopped, which surprised some of the people at the site.
It was later learnt that the demolition was halted because of an order from above. Further checks revealed that the police authorities in Abuja had sent some forensic experts to the forest to carry out a thorough investigation on items found at the scene of the incident.
‘The demolition was stopped in order not to destroy any concrete evidences that could help the police in its investigations,’ a police source informed our reporter.
Meanwhile, the state government, in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Festus Adedayo, noted that the demolition would resume on Friday.
The state governor has already revoked the certificate of occupancy of the land and has also announced its confiscation by the Oyo State government.
