President Goodluck Jonathan, on Tuesday, visited the ancient city of Kano for a grand ceremony to welcome a former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau, to the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.
His visit to the city came a day after some terrorists killed about 200 people at a bus station in Abuja. The President had earlier cancelled a planned visit to Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday shortly after the ugly incident occurred.
The former governor was welcomed into the party in an event tagged ‘The Grand Reception for Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau’. Jonathan promised to intensify his fight against terrorism in the country. Prominent members of the PDP were in Kano for the occasion.
