The Northern Governors Forum, NGF, has promised to support security agencies in bringing an end to terrorism in Nigeria. The body made this pledge on Friday while reacting to Thursday’s second bomb blast in three weeks in Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja.
In a press statement signed by its Chairman, Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, the governors’ body also expressed shock over the incident, which has claimed about 20 lives.
“The Northern States Governors Forum is pained that the latest blast is coming at a time when the federal and state governments were putting all measures in place to end the menace of insecurity in the nation,” the NGF stated.
The governors also commiserated with the families of those who died in the blast, assuring them that they will continue to contribute their quota in ensuring that peace is regained in Nigeria.
The Forum further promised that its members would remain steadfast and focused in their resolve to continue to support security agencies in the region in the discharge of their responsibility of protecting lives and property of the citizens.
