Leader of the Boko Haram militant group, Abubakar Shekau, has released a new video, exclusively obtained by AFP, stating that he would release the kidnapped secondary school girls in Chibok, Borno, unless the Nigerian government freed members of the terrorist group held captived by security operatives.
Shekau disclosed further that the girls have been converted to Islam, which he said the girls are presently happy with.
In the 17-minute video, the Boko Haram leader pointed out that girls are in safe hands and would only be reunited with their families when the government meets his demands.
The schoolgirls were abducted about three weeks ago in their school while writing the final year exams.
The kidnap has attracted worldwide reactions, with the international communities demanding for their immediate release.
