Two new Commissioners have been sworn-in by the governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi. At a ceremony held on Friday in Abakaliki, the state capital, the governor charged the new Commissioners to diligently serve the state.
Elechi sworn-in David Egbu and Mrs Mary-Joy Umoke as Commissioners for Environment and Women Affairs Social Development respectively.
The governor said, “you should represent the interest of citizens of the whole state and not only those from your respective local government areas. No area of the state should feel marginalised for not having someone in the state executive council, as you should realise that your assignment, though glamorous, is onerous.”
He asked the new appointees to ensure that they are ready to work, noting that they could be reassigned to other ministries at the shortest notice. Elechi also congratulated the two new Commissioners for being considered to serve the state.
