Gunmen Set 2 Bauchi Schools Ablaze

Two schools were burnt on Wednesday night in Bauchi, a state in the northern part of Nigeria where some insurgents have kicked against Western education. A terrorist group in the north called Boko Haram, which literally means ‘Western education is a taboo’, has continued to attack schools in the region, the Chibok school in Borno State has been the one that has attracted wide local and international attention.

Primary schools in neighbouring Shadarki and Yelwan Darazo villages were burnt by the suspected hoodlums, one in each village.

According to a police chief in the Bauchi, “the attackers came in a group of around 30 and set fire to Shadarki Primary school before proceeding to Yelwan Darazo where they also burnt another primary school and a telecoms mast.”

However, no arrest has been made in connection with the attack that happened at about 11:10pm on Wednesday in the two villages. It is also not clear if the well known terrorist group, Boko Haram, carried out the latest destruction.
