President Goodluck Jonathan will no longer be visiting Chibok town in Borno State, where over 200 girls were kidnapped in a secondary school in the town more than a month ago by Boko Haram members, Aproko247 has learnt.
This news may come as a surprise to many Nigerians and the international communities as well because the Nigerian President has not visited the town since the abduction took place on April 15.
On Thursday, it was widely reported by both local and international media that the President would storm Chibok to meet with parents of the missing girls. However, the cancellation might further buttress US claim that the Nigerian government has been slow in freeing these girls.
No official reason was given for Jonathan’s action, but there are speculations that the President decided not to go to Chibok for security reasons.
Meanwhile, Jonathan is due to attend a security meeting in Paris, France, which holds on Saturday.
