The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has disclosed that elders in the state, including him, have thrown their full weights behind Akin Ambode to become the next governor of the state in 2015.
The respected monarch, speaking on Thursday at a public presentation of a book on Ambode, held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, said the former Accountant General of Lagos State will succeed the incumbent governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN.
Akiolu said Ambode has the quality to rule the centre of excellence and described him as the right candidate to further lead the state to a greater height.
According to the monarch, “you people know me well that I do not hide my feelings on where I stand on issues. We the royal fathers have consulted widely within the state with sons and daughters of Lagos and have come to the conclusion that the best person to take over from Babatunde Fashola, the iconic governor of Lagos State, is Akinwunmi Ambode.”
Several dignitaries were at the book launch on the biography of Ambode tagged ‘TheAct of Selfless Service’, written by Marina Osoba.
Ambode has been rumoured to be the man anointed by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State and presently a National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to rule the state from 2015.
