Some gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect have killed a Chinese in Cameroon. The attack occurred on Friday night in the northern region of the country. No fewer than 10 persons were also abducted by the violent Islamist group.
The group struck just when some leaders, including President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria are meeting in Paris, France to map out better strategies on how to defeat the group’s terrorist activities in West Africa.
The Chinese, working on a road project in the area, were invaded by the terrorists on Friday night.
An official in Waza, a town near the site of the attack, told AFP on condition of anonymity that, “the Boko Haram militants were heavily armed, they came in five vehicles.”
The Chinese were attacked when soldiers from Cameroon’s elite Rapid Intervention Battalion, who were guarding them, left for Yaounde to attend a military parade ahead of the May 20 National Day in Cameroon.
