There have been several crisis in the Lagos State University, LASU, since the state government, led by Governor Babatunde Fashola, increased the tuition fee of the institution. Students of the school have been made to pay over N200,000 as tuition fee, a development that has not gone down well with both the students of the institution and their parents
However, respite seems to have come the way of the students as well as their parents as the state government has promised to holistically look into the increment.
At the ministerial press briefing held on Tuesday, Commissioner for Education, Olayinka Oladunjoye, told newsmen that government would soon make a pronouncement on the lingering issue. She added that efforts are being made to put an end to the ongoing crisis in the institution.
According to the Commissioner, “we are looking into the crisis in LASU holistically as a responsible government; very soon you will hear our pronouncement on the fees issue. We are not insensitive to the plight of the students, we are working on it.”
Oladunjoye urged for calm from all stakeholders, assuring them that all will be over soon.
Students of the school have carried out protests against the hike, lamenting that they now find it difficult to pay the new tuition fee.
