Nigeria’s former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has eventually returned to the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, which he left in 2013 for the All Progressives Congress, APC. The lawyer turned politician made the switch on Monday shortly after the main opposition party said he was not a card carrying member of APC.
His ‘port’ from APC to PDP also came months after he held a private meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, in Abuja.
Hours after his controversial April 2014 visit to the Villa, two Presidential aides, Doyin Okupe and Reno Omokri took to Twitter to welcome him back to the PDP.
Okupe, a Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, then wrote, “I welcome bro ffk (Femi Fani-Kayode) to God’s vineyard. I hv never felt more complete politically dan I feel 2day. knew God ll remove all His frm d sinking ship.”
Omokri, Jonathan’s aide on New Media, also then tweeted, “Egbon @realffk I’m glad that what we discussed has materialized. My joy knows no bound. You never belonged with then. Welcome back home.”
But Fani-Kayode then denied returning to the PDP, stating that he only visited the President as a citizen of the country.
