A new Emir of Kano will be announced on Sunday, June 8, 2014, the state governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has disclosed. A new successor to the throne became necessary following the demise of the former occupier of the post, Ado Abdullahi Bayero, who passed away on Friday in Kano.
Kwankwaso told the king makers who paid him a condolence visit on Saturday that a new Emir will be named on Sunday.
He explained that the four king makers under the leadership of Madakin Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nabahani Ibrahim, had briefed him on preparations for selecting a new Emir.
Names of three candidates have already been submitted to the governor by the king makers.
Former CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, is tipped to be named as the new Emir. He is the grandson of the late Emir’s brother.
