The Gombe State Government has approved the appointment of Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar as the new Emir of Gombe. The new Emir is the son of the late Emir of Gombe, who died on May 27, 2014, at a London hospital.
Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Bage, on Friday, presented the letter of appointment to the new Emir at the Gombe Central Mosque. Bage disclosed that the state governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, reconstituted the council of kingmakers of the emirate to choose a new monarch.
Shehu-Abubakar will be coronated as the 11th Emir of Gombe. Until his new position, he was the Santurakin of Gombe.
The new Emir was born on December 17, 1977, in Gombe town and attended Gombe Children Primary School from 1982 to 1988. He proceeded to Government Science Secondary School, Gombe, from 1989 to 1995 before heading to the University of Maiduguri from 2001 to 2005 to study Political Science.
