Forces behind the impeachment move against the governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, seem to be bent on removing him at all cost.
Despite a public holiday declared by the state government on Tuesday, the seven-man panel constituted on Monday by the acting Chief Justice of the state, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, has gone ahead to hold its inaugural meeting on Tuesday amidst tight security.
The meeting, Aproko247 learnt, is taking place at the J&J Holiday Villa, Atirwucha close, Karewa GRA, Yola.
It was disclosed to us that journalists were not allowed to cover the sitting, which is ongoing as at the time of filing in this report.
On Monday, Registrar of the High Court, Abubakar Babayola, informed newsmen that the inauguration of the committee was not a requirement for the commencement of the panel’s job. Babayola explained that nowhere in the constitution stipulated this as a prerequisite for such.
