Barely 10 days after the Oyo State commissioned the newly completed pedestrian bridge in Apete, Ibadan, Aproko247 can report that the facility has collapsed.
The bridge, built to ease movement of people from Apete town through The Polytechnic Ibadan, crumbled on Tuesday night, according to information gathered by our reporter.
At the commissioning of the bridge few days ago, the Oyo State Commissioner for Works, Bimbo Kolade told journalists that the newly-constructed bridge would be restricted to vehicular activities, though he explained that the bridge was solid enough for vehicular activities, but it would only be used by pedestrians, for now, to give room for the continuation of the main bridge.
The incident is being discussed in the area and most of the residents are angry with the way government has allegedly been playing politics with the lives of the people.
Meanwhile, Aproko247 could not reach the Oyo State government on this matter.
