Boko Haram Raids Borno Community, Slays Many

A village in Borno State was on Friday morning invaded by hoodlums believed to be members of Boko Haram sect. The gunmen, at about 5am on Friday, stormed Damboa community, killing several residents of the area and also burning down many houses.

It was learnt that security officials were not on ground to repel the insurgents, who had a field day unleashing terror on the village. Many inhabitants of the community had to run to safety.

Information gathered by our reporter reveals that some members of the Civilian-JTF, a vigilante group comprising mainly youth in the village, did their best to confront the terrorist group.

Actual human casualty figure could not be ascertained before filing this report, but we gathered that over a dozen may have died in the attack.

Borno is Boko Haram’s stronghold. The group has carried out several deadly attacks in the state for more than three years.
