A small aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Air Force has crashed in Borno State. The plane, an Mi-35, collapsed in Bama, Borno State, a stronghold of the dreaded terrorist group called Boko Haram, which has carried out several attacks in the region.
Chris Olukolade, spokesman of the Defence Headquarters, confirmed on Monday afternoon that the helicopter crashed while on a training mission.
He stressed that the plane was not pulled down by enemies, as some may have thought, but declined to state if anyone was killed in the incident.
It was learnt that the jet crashed due to technical fault, while Olukolade noted that investigation has begun to reveal the cause of the crash.
