Contrary to rumours that there are new cases of the deadly Ebola Virus in Nigeria, the Federal Government come out to dispel such speculations. The government assured Nigerians that no new case of Ebola has been recorded.
The FG, at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, said those who had contact with the Liberian that died of the disease in Lagos some days ago have been quarantined.
Minister of Health, Professor Chukwu Onyebuchi, who spoke with the media on behalf of the government, said 69 others who had contact with the deceased were put under close surveillance.
Onyebuchi added that, “We are working with all stakeholders to see how we will track all those we considered primary contacts because contacts are in degrees. We are tracking them with a view to deciding those who will be quarantined.”
Also speaking at the briefing, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, said, “We started the public awareness campaign even before the unfortunate victim came into our country.
“If you listen to radio and Nigerian television stations, you will hear the jingles about Ebola Virus Disease and the general care that Nigerians must observe in order not to contract the disease,” he added.
