Boko Haram: Army Warns Protesting Officers’ Wives

NIGERIAN-ARMY

Following protests by wives of some Nigerian military officers posted to the troubled North East Nigeria, the Defence Headquarters, DHQ, has issued a warning to the women not to demoralise their husbands, who are serving the country.

The DHQ posted on its Twitter page that such actions by the spouses of the soldiers would not be accepted, noting that they don’t have the rights to influence the officers’ postings.

The DHQ said, “It is improper for any officer or soldier nor are their spouses encouraged to decide where he or she be deployed.”

“We urge the spouses of our troops to be understanding as the entire nation is depending on the Army to address the security challenges,” the DHQ also said.
