APC/PDP War Leaves 8 Injured In Rivers

No fewer than eight persons were injured on Wednesday in Rivers State when supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, clashed with their Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, counterparts.

The incident took place in Rumueprikom community, Obio/Akpor local council area of the state.

Information sniffed by our correspondent shows that the fight broke out as supporters of the APC were expecting the state governor, Chibuike Amaechi, who was due for a tour to the local government, where his perceived arch rival, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of State, comes from.

In the melee, eight persons were injured, including the son of a former traditional ruler in the area, Anthony Owabie, Clement, who was allegedly shot by his father for refusing to join the APC. He confirmed this to journalists in the hospital, where he was receiving treatment with other injured youths.

Meanwhile, the police in Rivers State has arrested the monarch along with four others in connection with the incident.

Also, the state government has accused Wike of sponsoring the violence.
