Nigeria defeated England on Wednesday at the ongoing FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Canada to clinch a place in the quarter-final of the competition. The Nigeria’s Falconets beat the English team by 2-1.
The Nigerian team finished as the group leader on seven points and will face New Zealand in the next stage of the tournament.
The Falconets conceded an early goal, but came from a goal down to end the match 2-1 in the second half.
Loveth Ayila equalised for Nigeria four minutes into the end of first half, while Asisat Oshoala sealed the game for the Falconets in the 59th minute of the match. The second goal was scored from a spot kick.
Nigeria played a 1-1 draw with Mexico in their opening game and beat South Korea 2-1 in the second match.
