The immediate past governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, has said he will return to the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, where he hopes to re-contest the Plateau Central Senatorial zone in 2015.
Dariye, addressing newsmen over the weekend in Jos, the state capital, also pointed out that he is not making the shock return to the party he left few years ago because of the incumbent governor of the state, Jonah Jang, who he fell out with.
The former governor is presently at the Senate representing the people of Plateau Central Senatorial District. He stressed that his return to the party is to ensure victory for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential polls.
“I am joining the PDP because I believe in President Goodluck Jonathan and I would work hard to ensure he gets victory if he decides to run. We have resolved to return to the PDP after wide consultations with my constituents,” he said.
Speaking further, Dariye maintained that, “I am not coming back to PDP to fight Governor Jang. There is no conflict of roles; he is the outgoing governor just like me; everybody will come and go. Late Baba Lar was there; Tapgun, Dariye have come and gone and Jang will come and go, and Plateau State would remain.”
