After the capture of Gwoza town in Borno State by members of the terrorist Islamic sect, Boko Haram, leader of the group, Abubakar Shekau, has declared the community an Islamic caliphate.
In his latest video obtained via the usual channel, AFP, Shekau vowed that his men will not leave the town under any circumstance, stressing that that “we have come to stay.”
In the 52-minute clip, the terrorist leader said, “Thanks be to Allah who gave victory to our brethren in the town of Gwoza and made it part of the Islamic caliphate. By the grace of Allah, we will not leave the town. We have come to stay.”
However, it is not certain if Shekau recorded the latest video in the captured Gwoza town.
In recent time, the Nigerian troops have tried to reclaim the town, which borders Cameroon, all to no avail.
Also, men of the Nigerian Army have refused to be deployed to the town having lost some of its officers recently in attempts to dislodge the insurgents from Gwoza. Their spouses have also staged protests in solidarity.
