Buhari To Tackle Corruption If Elected President

Former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, has announced his desire to run in the 2015 Presidential election in Nigeria. The politician declared his ambition at an event held in that respect at the Eagles Square, Abuja, on Wednesday.

The occasion attracted mammoth crowd at the venue and was also attended by four governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Buhari is contesting the position under the platform of APC, a party he formed with some opposition parties in Nigeria. “I humbly wish to present myself before you, before all Nigerians and before God, seeking to be elected as APC’s presidential candidate,” the retired military officer said at the occasion.

At the declaration, the former Nigerian leader frowned at the activities of terrorists in North-East of Nigeria and described them as evil doers.

Buhari commended members of the Nigerian Armed Forces for sacrificing their lives for the unity of the country and urged Nigerians to appreciate them.

He vowed to tackle corruption if elected President of Nigeria in 2015, submitting that the situation is now blatant and widespread. “The rest of the world looks at Nigeria as the home of corruption. Nigeria is a country where stealing is not corruption,” he observed.

Speaking further, Buhari promised to revive industries in the country and give them favourable environment to operate so as to attract employment. He also vowed to restore honour and integrity to public service.
