Barely 48 hours after news went viral that the Nigerian government and Boko Haram Islamic sect have sealed an agreement to end ceasefire in north east Nigeria, members of the deadly group have launched an attack in Borno, which has claimed several lives, according to latest reports.
It was gathered that the group stormed Maikadiri community in Borno on Friday evening in their usual commando style and shot sporadically into houses of residents of the area, killing and injuring many people in the process.
Also, some properties were destroyed, including houses and livestock.
The attack reportedly lasted some hours. The insurgents were also said to have arrived the village in two Hilux vehicles.
On Friday, the news of the ceasefire deal was made known, though some Nigerians have already cast doubts on the development.
The purported agreement is coming just as the Nigerian government has claimed that it was winning the war against terrorism in Nigeria. It also came when the Nigerian Army agreed a deal with their Cameroonian counterpart in facing out Boko Haram in both countries. The group has claimed responsibility for some deadly attacks in Nigeria.
