After speculations of him pitching tenth with the opposition party, the Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has finally left his party and has joined the opposition.
The number four citizen of Nigeria, on Tuesday, declared his support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, leaving the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, a platform he got elected into the National Assembly in 2011, where he emerged Speaker of the House.
Tambuwal, giving reasons for his decision to leave the ruling party, said he left the PDP to secure his future with the APC. He further said due to the fact that his state, Sokoto, is being ruled by an APC governor, he thought it wise to decamp to the party.
His media aide, Imam Imam, had earlier denied reports that the Speaker had defected to the APC.
